Top Ten Tuesday: Underrated Gems

toptentuesday
Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

This week on Top Ten Tuesday we are talking about those books that not enough people are talking about! These books are so good, and we try to push so hard, and all to no avail. The stories stick with us, the characters make their way into our hearts, and the plots typically have some twists and turns. Today we are counting down the top 10 books we have read in the past year or so that we feel are underrated and that more people should be reading!

Emily

I had to go back a little bit, because I wanted to give you titles that were at 5,000 ratings or under on Goodreads. These books are filled with heartache, feels, adventures, and laughs. I want to shove these books at you and say READ THIS NOW because I think that they are all so good and so important. I also wanted to make sure not to double up with Arika (because she made her list before I did and has a few on there that I agree with wholeheartedly). So…here they are…

The Boy in the Black Suit by Jason Reynolds | Unashamed by Lecrae Moore | The Impostor Queen by Sarah Fine | A Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess | Rebel Mechanics by Shanna Swendson | Zaria Fierce Trilogy by Keira Gillet | Beyond The Red by Ava Jae | The Storyspinner by Becky Wallace | The Glass Arrow by Kristen Simmons | Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman

I’m gonna have to go a little farther back than a year to find 10 books total…didn’t get to read as much last year. And bear with me…some of these books came out more than a couple years ago but I have only read them within the last couple of years. So here are my underrated books from the past couple years that I think you should get your hands on!

First Year by Rachel E. Carter | Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae CarsonScarlet by A.C. Gaughen | The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows | Conquest by John Connolly and Jennifer Ridyard | Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch | The Island by Usher S. Evans | Splintered by A.G. Howard | Storm Siren by Mary Weber | The Queen of All that Dies by Laura Thalassa

QUESTION: What are some underrated books that you have read and that you think more people should read?

I wanted to read Scarlet and never did. 😦 Sounded like a fun series. Impostor Queen and The Storyspinner sound great too. I did see a review or two for Storyspinner and they were good as I recall.

    1. Ha I think I am due for a Scarlet reread as well. It’s one of those series that I got so into that I actually started yelling at the book characters, which isn’t a normal thing for me. And I reread it before Lion Heart and oh man, still good. And yay for you also loving Beyond the Red! I hear a sequel is supposed to be coming!

Yay! I’m so glad to see The Storyspinner on here. I loved that series, and it definitely doesn’t get enough attention. I was able to meet Becky Wallace last year too, and she’s seriously such a sweetheart. Loved it. I also really enjoyed A Shadow Bright and Burning! Did you see the cover release for the sequel a few days ago?
