This is something completely and totally new that I am trying out. If someone else has done this before I apologize. I did not mean to plagiarize and will definitely do what I can to make it right.
First Line Friday is where I will be sharing the most excellent of first lines in books. To me, a first line in a book will make or break a book. It sets everything up…the mood, the plot, and your interest level to it all. Sometimes there are some first lines that are not the greatest and we have to read further to really get involved in the book we are reading, but maaaaan am I a sucker for those first lines. I will be sharing one first line a week and it will be from something I have read, am reading, or have sitting patiently on my TBR just waiting for me to crack it open and read on further. These first lines are not from any particular genre, because amazing first lines can happen anywhere. So here we go, my very first First Line Friday.
Today’s first line comes from a book that I adore and have read many times in my life. It one of the few books that were required reading in school that I loved. I connected with this text so much and felt so many different emotions (and may have cried a little).
“When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home.” –The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

If you have not read this book I highly recommend it. It is incredible and you will fly through it. Plus, how awesome is that first line?
What is one of your favorite first lines from a book? Does this one make the list?
