We are back at it in 2017 and excited for our first Top Ten Tuesday of the year. This is definitely one of our favorite memes to be a part of. We get to talk about all kinds of books and all of the bookish things all while connecting with other bloggers that may like the exact same things.
With it being a new year we are now looking at a whole batch of new releases that we are definitely excited for. So many books to be excited for, and not enough time to read them. This is a problem all book lovers face every single year, and 2016 was no different. Here are some 2016 releases we had totally meant to read during 2016 but didn’t (and will definitely try to tackle in 2017).
Emily:
Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton | Passenger by Alexandra Bracken | A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro | The Beauty in Darkness by Mary E Pearson | The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye | Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco | The Girl From Everywhere by Heidi Heilig | Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven | Frost Like Night by Sara Raasch | Ivory and Bone by Julie Eshbaugh
There are SO many books that I missed in 2016 and want to get to, but this is the top 10 that I would like to knock out first!
Arika:
Like a River Glorious by Rae Carson | Frost Like Night by Sara Raasch | The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye | Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo | Dominion by John Connolly and Jennifer Ridyard | The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi | The Rose & the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh | Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton | The Midnight Star by Marie Lu | The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine
I didn’t even get to half of the 2016 releases that I wanted to! I hope I can knock out most of these this year along with the 2017 books I want to read!
QUESTION: What are some 2016 releases that you missed out on last year?
The Shadow Queen made my list too. I even own the hardback – just didn’t find the time. YET. But, I need to, because it sounds SO GOOD. Good luck to both of us!

I read the synopsis last year and it sounded soooo good! And then when I saw that cover I fell even more in love! It’s one of those books I will probably have to buy the hard copy of the book because I love the cover so much haha

The Crown’s Game and The Girl From Everywhere were both on my list this week too! Rebel of The Sands is awesome, I hope you both enjoy it, and I’m currently reading A Study In Charlotte.

I keep hearing that it’s awesome, which you would think would push it up on my list but clearly I am just taking my time. I am very excited to get to it!

I need to read a few of these. I’m pretty sure it’s gonna take years to read what I “mean to read” and that’s without adding anything.

Ha oh I am on the same boat. I have meant to read SO many books and just haven’t gotten there. Maybe one day….I hope.

I just keep adding books to the pile so I don’t feel like it ever shrinks! Though I consider that more good than bad!

Ohhh, The Rose and the Dagger and Rebel of the Sands! TRATD is so so amazing. An amazing conclusion to the duology. I’ve been eyeing Rebel more and more recently (especially since I’m loving the cover revamps). Guess that will go on my list now too! Hahah. Great selections! 🙂

Rebel is literally just sitting here, staring at me. I honestly have no clue why I haven’t started it yet.

I haven’t read any of these either. I started the Young Elites but I haven’t finished it yet. It’s one of my goals to get to it this year. I hope ya’ll enjoy each of these books when you get to them!

I am definitely looking forward to seeing how that series ends. It is just so interesting (and I don’t read a ton of anti-hero stories, if you call it that). Hope you get that series finished this year!

Nice picks! Stalking Jack the Ripper and Holding Up The Universe sound good (such different books lol), and I’m excited about Crooked Kingdom too.

After how good Six of Crows was I really want to read Crooked Kingdom. I also heard it was even better than Six of Crows!

*sobbing* There are SO MANY books I didn’t get to read in 2016! And, as always, I’m pretty sure I obtained more than I read. I am so ashamed. How did this happen? WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!?!?! As it so happens, I didn’t read any of these either and a bunch of them just went on my “search for at library” list. WHY AM I LIKE THIS???

Ha ha such is the life of a book lover. I think many of us are in the same boat and I always wonder just how people can be so organized with it.

I also LOVED Crooked Kingdom, and actually just sent it down to Arika so HOPEFULLY she can read it soon! I am so excited for The Girl From Everywhere and am sad that I didn’t get to it last year. But it’s sitting on my shelf just begging to be read, so hopefully soon!
