Top Ten Tuesday: 2016 Releases I Loved!

toptentuesday
Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish

This week we are counting down some of the BEST 2016 releases that we have read so far this year. While I have read a fairly decent amount of 2016 releases only some of them jumped out at me as some of the absolute best in my eyes (which doesn’t mean anything bad about the other books. Heck, some of those books I liked. But these books I LOVED!). However, of my 2016 releases I realized that I only picked out 6, so I am adding in 4 bonus reads that I loved that were NOT released in 2016. So…with the 2016 releases first (AND my absolute favorite at the top!!)…

The Rose and the Dagger (The Wrath and the Dawn #2) by Renee Ahdieh

23308084

You can find my review here. Basically…this was a much anticipated sequel that DEFINITELY lived up to my expectations. One of my all time favorite series and I am crushed that it’s over.

Beyond the Red by Ava Jae

25898435

You can find my review here. This was a sci-fi adventure that I was fully invested in (with a ship that is the best ship I have jumped on). I am absolutely DYING to know what happens next!

Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys

25614492

You can find my review here. Helllooooo favorite Historical Fiction author! She takes historical events that I really knew very little about, which gives me the need to learn more. She writes with such realistic characters and I just adore her work.

Break Me Like a Promise (Once Upon A Crime Family #2) by Tiffany Schmidt

26073071

You can find my review here. This continuation of the series blew me away. I enjoyed the first book of this series, but this book just destroyed. I felt so much more invested in the story and in this particular world. I absolutely loved it.

The Island (Madion War Trilogy #1) by S. Usher Evans

27236789

You can find my review here. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this book, to be totally honest. But I was hooked. Completely and totally suckered in to this world and to the relationship being built between these two people. It was a book that I legitimately let out a noise at the end and had people look at me funny. And let me say…I am currently reading the next book and OH MY GOSH GUYS GET ON THIS SERIES!

The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi

25203675

You can find my review here. I must say, this book gave me some mixed feelings. There were some things I wasn’t 100% sure on. But, it still made the list BECAUSE I think the writing is absolutely breathtaking and it has a romance that made me swoon a bit. It was definitely worth the read.

(And now to the non-2016 releases!)

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

18460392

You can find my review here. Just know that this book SLAYED me. I was thinking about this book for days after finishing it. I just can’t fully put into words my feelings. I absolutely loved it and I think it is a book that the world definitely needs.

Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin #1) by Robin LaFevers

9565548

You can find my review here. I thought this was an awesome take on a historical family and event. I really didn’t know what to expect when I heard assassin nuns, but I loved it and can’t wait to continue on in the series.

The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

You can find my review here. Yes, I binged this series this year. My life will never be the same. The fact that I had waited so long to read this series, STUPID! It was everything I had wanted. It left me shaking at the end and I honestly don’t think I fully recovered from it.

Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) by Marissa Meyer

13206900

I didn’t review this one because I just didn’t have words. I was so incredibly happy with how this series ended. This book was 800 pages of everything I wanted and more. I absolutely adored this world, and if you haven’t read this series I highly recommend it! It’s fun. It has some awesome fairy-tale elements. All the books are now out. Perfect!

What are some of the best 2016 releases that you have read this year?

  1. TRATD also made my list too! I gotta admit though I like the first book better, but it was still a solid sequel regardless.

And my feelings regarding The Star-Touched Queen are similar to yours — I gave it three stars because the writing is so lovely, but I have so many issues with it.

    Here’s my TTT. 🙂

  2. I can’t believe I still haven’t read WINTER – I bought it the day it was published, but the size of it has been intimidating to me, especially at a time when I had a lot of reading to do for my classes etc. I am now on summer break, so hopefully I finally have time to read it!
Thanks for sharing these and happy reading!
